Privacy Policy
Last updated July 8, 2026
This policy explains what happens to your data when you use OG Word Counter at ogwordcounter.com. The short version is simple. The text you count stays in your browser, and we collect as little as possible.
The text you count stays with you
The word counter runs entirely in your browser. When you type or paste text, all of the counting and analysis happens on your own device. Your text is never sent to our servers, saved in a database, or shared with anyone. If you open your browser network tools while you type, you will see that nothing is uploaded.
What we store in your browser
To make the tool nicer to use, it saves a few things in your browser using local storage. This data lives on your device and is not readable by us:
- A copy of your current text, so a refresh does not wipe your draft.
- Your word goal and your keyword phrase length setting.
- Your light or dark theme choice.
You can clear all of it at any time by using the Clear button, clearing your browser site data, or opening the page in a private window.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used at an aggregate level, such as how many people visit and which pages are popular. This helps us decide what to improve. Google Analytics may set cookies and process limited technical information like a truncated IP address, browser type, and referring page. It does not receive the text you count. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Cookies
The word counter does not need cookies to work. Any cookies that are set come from the analytics described above. You are free to block or delete them, and the tool will keep working normally.
Third-party services
We may rely on trusted third parties to host the site, serve it quickly around the world, and measure traffic. These providers process technical request data, such as your IP address, only as needed to deliver and secure the site. We do not sell your personal information.
What we do not collect
- We do not ask you to create an account or give us your name or email to use the tool.
- We do not read, store, or transmit the text you count.
- We do not require any personal details to count your words.
Children
OG Word Counter is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
Because the tool works without an account, there is very little personal data to manage. You can clear your locally stored data at any time, opt out of analytics, and use the site with cookies blocked. If you have a question about your data, email us and we will help.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Please check back now and then.
